A COURTESY VISIT OF HON. DR. DAMAS NDUMBARO - MINISTER FOR CONSTITUTIONAL AND LEGAL AFFAIRS TO TANLAP OFFICES.

Today 3rd August 2023, TANLAP delighted to host Hon. Dr. Damas Ndumbaro- the Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs (MoCLA) who paid a courtesy visit to TANLAP offices for enhancing collaboration between MoCLA and its stakeholders. Among many issues discussed was the possibility of establishing a legal aid fund; the shortage of Magistrates and Judges in the One Stop Center for Probate and Family Matters; amendment of existing discriminatory laws such as the Law of Marriage Act, and Inheritance related Laws as well as the enactment of Anti GBV Act. Furthermore, the Minister agreed that the need to have an online reporting system among Legal Aid Providers is important and the government has taken it into consideration. Similarly, Hon. Dr Ndumbaro explained that the Ministry will work on the issue of the Legal Aid Fund to ensure the accessibility and sustainability of the provision of legal aid services in Tanzania. TANLAP members have committed to continue working in collaboration with the Government and implement their activities to complement the Government's efforts including the ongoing Mama Samia Legal Aid Campaign which has brought together Government institutions and non-state actors to provide legal aid services to the indigents across the country.
