On March 11, 2025, TANLAP is participating in a meeting with the UN Secretary-General and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on the sidelines of the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). This year’s theme is “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment.” The Secretary-General highlighted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action, which underscores the ongoing setbacks in achieving gender equality that must be addressed. He discussed both the positive strides made toward advancing gender equality and the challenges faced by women and civil society in promoting the rights of women and girls.
He urged women not to “sacrifice equality for false experiences” and reaffirmed his commitment to support women and women’s rights CSOs in their efforts to advance gender equality. He promised that the UN would work to ensure the promotion of women’s rights, seek government commitments to advance gender equality, and provide financing for civil society organizations dedicated to promoting gender equality across all sectors, particularly in technology, science, and decision-making.
